Installation instructions are included in the text file you download. When you open the file, you will find three snippets of cut-and-paste code. If you are familiar with cascading style sheets, you may see that the snippet that goes in your site's style sheet has certain elements, primarily borders around the blogScream screen, that can be modified. The other snippets of code should be left alone, particularly the IFRAME parameters, since the Website that the IFRAME is capturing is designed to work properly with the parameters of that IFRAME as they are set. Before you begin to install the code, make a backup of the code on the page where you are going to install the viewer. This way, if something goes wrong with the installation, you can simply replace the entirety of the corrupted Web site code with what was there prior to the installation of blogScream.

Site Requirements

The IFRAME snippet of code will disrupt a Website's appearance if it is put in a section that is less than 200 pixels in width for the full-size version, or less than 150 pixels in width for the miniature version. The IFRAME for the full-size version has a height of 210 pixels and 155 for the miniature version. You should be aware that some browsers, particularly older ones, cannot present IFRAMEs to their users. This means that those users will see a screen that does nothing more than tell them that their browsers are not equipped to handle IFRAME content. By installing the blogScream code, you are deciding that some visitors to your Website will not see a feature that other visitors will.

Waiver of Liability

By downloading and installing a blogScream viewer, you release the editor and publisher of blogScream, Dark Wraith Publishing, its owner, the Web host of the Websites of Dark Wraith Publishing and blogScream from which you downloaded the viewer, and all other parties associated with blogScream from liability for any problems it may cause on your Website. If the viewer causes difficulties on your Website, you should remove all code that was put in from the viewer file you downloaded.

Registration of your copy of blogScream

Registration of a copy of blogScream is available to non-commercial, smaller Websites. The editor and publisher of blogScream will notify you of whether or not your registration has been accepted. In the event that it is not accepted, you may continue to use the blogScream news wire service via the viewer on your Website, but you will have no syndication privileges, as those privileges are outlined below.

To register your blogScream subscription, you must complete the blogScream syndication application form available by clicking here. That form will request from you the following:

Your e-mail address will not be voluntarily sold, transmitted, conveyed, or provided to any third party without your expressed, written consent.

Syndication Privileges

If you are a registered subscriber, articles from your Website may from time to time be presented in the news cycle on blogScream. The editor and publisher of blogScream will make the sole and final determination of whether or not any particular Website and article on that Website appear on blogScream. For information concerning how editorial judgment is made on what appears, see the Guidelines for Headline Syndication.

You will receive no compensation for your headlines that appear on blogScream. If you do not wish to have your Website or its content presented under these circumstances, do not register your copy; otherwise, your may find your articles being put into the news cycle even though you have not given your direct permission and you won't be paid.

If you are a registered subscriber, and you feel that an article on your Website is especially newsworthy and meets the Guidelines, you are encouraged to submit it to the editor and publisher via e-mail at blogScream@dark-wraith.com. You should include the title of the article and the direct URL to it.

What Will Appear on blogScream

blogScream is a news wire service that presents primarily the names of Websites and headline articles from those Websites. Both the name of the Website and the article on that Website are presented as links, and those links include the _TARGET attribute so that, if a visitor to your site clicks on a Website name or on an article, a new window pops up in which the link is opened. By using this attribute, your visitors do not navigate away from your site: when they close the link window, they are back at your site.

Graphical images may appear on blogScream. These may be small images that have been submitted by sites in the syndication cycle, or they may be images associated with advertisements. No image will be presented that would be consider obscene or profane by standards of a typical and reasonable community.

Notices

Information about technical issues concerning blogScream will be published at http://blogscream.dark-wraith.com/technotes.

Future Releases

The current version of blogScream is release 1.0, which uses the IFRAME tag to present the news wire. Release 2.0 is currently in development, and it will use a java applet, making installation easier. Release 2.x will also offer users more flexibility in background and fonts. You might be required to install a new release if the data feed method is changed to make it more efficient. If you are a registered subscriber, you will be given the opportunity to download and install the code before it is made available to the general public.

Advertising

As noted above, advertisements may appear on blogScream. No ad copy will be accepted or presented that is of a patently offensive nature, and no advertisers will be presented whose primary or known business is pornography or sex-related merchandise or services. Advertisements from groups that have been deemed terrorist or otherwise unlawful by the United States government will not be accepted or presented. The editor and publisher of blogScream will have the sole and final say on what advertisements are presented on blogScream. All proceeds of advertisements and other sources of revenue arising from blogScream are the exclusive property of the editor and publisher.
